Travilla 1962-63

 1962

Staron Alaskine windowpane checks fine black lines on ivory, making this stunning suit with an open-air neckline, curved jacket, and longer line with a bias midriff insert.

Subtle seaming emphasizes the body lines in this dress, which has the look of a suit in Staron's sandalwood Alouette. It is accented with a colorful turban.

The jacket of white Ziberline silk is decorated with embroidered gold sprays of Mimosa. The dress is beneath a blouson bodice of yellow silk chiffon. The deeply scooped neckline is softly cowled in front, with a Ziberline belt and a flat bow for the finishing touch.

Travilla likes the infallible flattery of black silk chiffon for the cocktail hour, modeled into a slim dress with an easy top finishing in a fluted scarf on one shoulder.

Typical of elegance for the evening is Travilla's gown of ombre chiffon in champagne tones printed on black, shadowed by black chiffon in a softly draped overskirt and comfortable bodice.

Marigold sheer wool for this coat dress with a wrapped shawl collar.

Pink Duponni silk with a softly draped back and floating overskirt.

Flamenco pink evening gown with a cascading flounce starting just below the bustline.

Pleated column of white crepe, surmounting a back panel that flares into circular pleatings. Held to the body by a self-tie belt of the same fabric.

A wool suit of near-white-like fine sand with orange flecks. Accented by an orange chiffon top.

The shapely sheath of textured black cotton, with a free-form white collar, loops like a sash on the left shoulder.

Flower-embroidered midriff accents this simple but elegant afternoon dress.

A hemline fluted with catgut highlights this white accordion-pleated dress.

A lavishly appliqued cardigan sweater over a pink chiffon gown with a matching pattern.

Crystal and rhinestone beading accents the glamorous sheath gown with graceful overskirt.

Chantilly lace reembroidered with sequins over white silk is used for the exquisite party frock.
